Rain has the final say Wisden CricInfo staff - December 8, 2002
Kenya 211 (Modi 55, Marillier 3-39) v Zimbabwe 17 for 1 The prospect of one of the more anonymous series in international cricket history was too much for the elements, with rain bringing the first one-dayer between Zimbabwe and Kenya at Harare to a watery conclusion. Kenya had made 211 from their 50 overs, and Zimbabwe were on 17 for 1 after 5.1 overs when the weather intervened. A distinctly forgettable occasion will be remembered with fondness by Hitesh Modi, who made 55, his fifth one-day international half-century, and Doug Marillier, who took 3 for 39 as Kenya subsided from 165 for 4. Kenya were without their captain Steve Tikolo, who is suffering from bronchitis, but they didn't miss him in the middle order as Modi and the stand-in captain Thomas Odoyo added 69 for the fifth wicket. Odoyo made 37 before he was run out, and Modi was Marillier's first scalp. Brijal Patel also played well for 44, but it was academic in the end.
