Essex County Cricket Club has decided to install permanent floodlight at the County Ground, Chelmsford for use from 2003.

Chief Executive David East Commented:

"We obtained planning permission for the lights earlier in the year, and our Executive Committee has given the go ahead for their installation for next season. Although dependant on the fixture scheduling, we would expect to play four NUL matches and some of the new 20 over competition games under lights at Chelmsford. The floodlit cricket we have staged in the county over the last 3 years has been very successful, and it has encouraged us all in making this big decision to install the lights at our headquarters"
