Ganguly to bat at No. 3
Wisden CricInfo staff - April 10, 2002

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has announced that he will bat at No. 3 throughout the series against West Indies. When asked for reasons, he was quoted as saying: "I just feel too tired waiting for my turn at No. 5." He said that he had spoken to incumbent Rahul Dravid on the matter and "he has agreed. He was very nice and accomodating."

Ganguly began his Test career at No. 3, against England, but was soon forced down the order when he was found wanting against the pace of the South Africans during India's tour there in 1996-97. Dravid had taken over the No. 3 spot on that occasion.

Comment: Foolhardy or bold?
