Security fears prompt change in ICC venue
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 17, 2001

LONDON (Reuters)
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has changed the venue of next month's executive board meeting from Pakistan to Malaysia because of security fears. The ICC decision on Monday was "in recognition of recent world events and the uncertainty over the security aspects of international travel to the region". The meeting was due to have taken place in Lahore from October 15-19 but will now move to Kuala Lumpur on the same dates.

"We are disappointed that Pakistan has been ruled out as the venue for this meeting but a realistic position had to be taken given the delicacy of the security situation and after receiving advice from governments around the cricket world," said ICC chief executive officer Malcolm Speed. "Every effort will be made to stage future meetings in Pakistan and I will be keeping in close contact with the Pakistan Cricket Board to review the situation."
