Michael Vandort
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 5, 2001
Wisden overview A stringbean of an opening batsman, Michael Vandort secured his place in the Sri Lankan squad with an eye-catching century against the Indian tourists in June 2001, and made his Test debut in the inaugural match against Bangladesh two months later. He had to wait a full season for his second opportunity, also against Bangladesh, but seized it with a composed maiden century. Despite playing only one match for his school, St Joseph's, he soon established his credentials with a century on his first-class debut and a successful `A' team tour of Pakistan. Andrew Miller
