Bangladesh Under-16 upsets the tourists Jahangir Hossain - 11 October 2001
The visiting Under-16 West Bengal Cricket Association received a 22-run defeat at the hands of the hosts in a reduced over match in BKSP today. The match started late due to wet ground and twenty overs was reduced. Bangladesh Under-16 managed a moderate 141 for the loss of 8 wickets in their stipulated 25 overs. Nayeem Islam top scored 30 and Golam Rahman made 26. Rubyat and Mostafizur contributed 13 each. D.B. Chowdhury was the most successful bowler from the tourists to capture 3 wickets giving away 33 runs in his four expensive overs. It was a very sound start from West Bengal boys when they lost their first wicket in 48 and second in 82. Mayukh Biswas seemed confident to notch up a splendid 48 off 66 balls. Thenext highest scorer was D.B.Chowdhury who made 22. One down Anirban was the third one to reach the double figure. He contributed with 16. A series of run outs eventually lead the tourists play very cautiously spending too many balls to reach the target. Four of the host bowlers took one wicket each. © CricInfo
