Zimbabwe hit an alltime low
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 30, 2001

Zimbabwe have now lost 15 one-day internationals in a row, a record for a current Test-playing nation. The record was previously held by Sri Lanka, who lost 14 consecutive matches in 1987. Zimbabwe's run began in the first match of the Coca-Cola Cup on July 27, when they were beaten by 27 runs by West Indies at Harare. Excluding matches against Bangladesh, this was Zimbabwe's 20th successive one-day defeat. Longest one-day losing streak (as a Test-playing nation)

Zimbabwe 15* (2001)
Sri Lanka 14 (1987)
England 11 (2000-01)
South Africa 10 (1994)
Pakistan 10 (1987-88)
West Indies 8 (1999-2000)
India 8 (1981)
New Zealand 7 (1985 and 1994-95)
Australia 6 (1996)
Bangladesh 3 (2001)

New Zealand's losing streak was part of a run of 13 defeats in 15 games, with the other two no-results

Muttiah Muralitharan took his 254th one-day wicket when he had Mluleki Nkala caught behind, moving him above Kapil Dev (253) and up to seventh on the all-time list. He remains behind Saqlain Mushtaq (257), Shane Warne (262), Javagal Srinath (268), Anil Kumble (281), Waqar Younis (349) and Wasim Akram (441).

Doug Marillier made an unbeaten 52, his first one-day half century for Zimbabwe. His previous highest score was 46, against New Zealand at Bulawayo in 2000-01. Marillier is playing in his 17th match.
