India coach John Wright has been told to prepare a report on the team's recent poor performances and has been criticised for failing to work closely enough with the national selectors.

Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said after a selectors' meeting: "There were several suggestions...selectors said there was lack of coordination with the coach and trainer."

The BCCI expressed concern after Indian's recent 1-1 draw in a two-Test series in Zimbabwe and a 2-1 defeat in Sri Lanka.

New Zealander John Wright was appointed as India's first foreign coach last year.

The board is also worried about a recent spate of injuries to key players, including batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, amid suggestions that players have been driven too hard.

The team's Australian physio Andrew Leipus is also due to submit a report. Dalmiya said the pair -- currently in South Africa with the Indian side -- could submit their reports at their convenience because they were busy on tour.

The Indian team is currently eighth in the world Test rankings, with only Zimbabwe and Bangladesh below them.
