Rain upsets Otago trial in Oamaru
Steve Davie - 20 November 2001
Otago's preparation for next week's State Championship opener at Carisbrook has been disrupted, due to heavy rain in Oamaru.
State Otago Volts coach Glenn Turner had planned a two-day final trial but a downpour in Oamaru over the past 24 hours, following a heavy watering of the pitch to have been used at Waitaki Boys' High School, has forced a cancellation.
Turner was due to name his side for the first match against the State Northern Knights on Friday, but may now make and announcement earlier in the week.
Players who won't be considered because of injury are opening bowlers Warren McSkimming and James McMillan.
