Ellman-Brown resigns as manager of the ZCU
Wisden CricInfo staff - November 14, 2001

HARARE (Reuters)
David Ellman-Brown, managing director of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) has surprisingly announced his resignation after three years in charge.

Ellman-Brown, 63, took over the position in 1998 and his resignation will be effective from the end of January 2002.

He cited family reasons for his premature departure. His contract was due to run until July 2002.

Ellman-Brown has been involved in Zimbabwe's administration since 1968 and was a key player in the establishment of a non-racial cricket body in Zimbabwe.

"The board of directors acknowledges these unfortunate circumstances which are beyond his control," ZCU president Peter Chingoka said in a statement.

"However, the cricket fraternity is pleased that David is not lost totally from cricket as he remains a respected life president of the union, a position of honour that he has held since 1992."

A decision on a replacement for Ellman-Brown is still under review by the ZCU.
