Brisbane Test, Day 3, Tea
Saturday, November 10, 2001

Well, it all depends on the weather now. Australia's only chance of forcing the result is to have two days' bowling at the Kiwis. It's supposed to clear tomorrow – but they said that today!

A draw would be almost as good as a win for New Zealand. And they won't care if it comes through them batting out time, or through it raining for two days. If New Zealand can get out of this game they will be very happy, believe me.

Psychologically, a solid batting performance by them here could have a big effect on the rest of the series. Against a team like Australia you need to soak up the pressure – you can't attack them too hard or they'll just climb all over you. That's where England went wrong during the Ashes. New Zealand need to learn from that.

Assuming we do get two full days' play, then my money's on Australia – but not with complete confidence. For one thing, Shane Warne won't really be able to have much of an impact after all the rain which will make life so much easier for the batsmen.

It could be a real interesting day tomorrow – if it stops raining.

Ian Healy made a record 395 dismissals in 119 Tests for Australia. His comments are appearing on Wisden.com at the end of every session of the Brisbane Test. He was talking to Camilla Rossiter.
