Wisden Cricket Monthly wins award Wisden CricInfo staff - November 9, 2001
Wisden Cricket Monthly, sister publication of Wisden.com, was last night named Subscriptions Magazine of the Year 2001 in the small-publisher section of Britain's Periodical Publishers Association awards. The magazine, edited by Stephen Fay, had increased subscription sales by 50% in three years. Christopher Lane, managing director of John Wisden, said new subscribers had been attracted by the quality of the magazine. "Congratulations are due to our publisher, James Stringer, and his predecessor Lynda Wheeler for their work which led to this award, and of course to the editorial team past and present for producing a high-quality magazine which attracted so many new subscribers." The award is the second trophy for WCM in two years. In November 1999, its then editor, Tim de Lisle, was voted Editor of the Year in the Special Interest category at the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards. The December issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly, containing a full preview of England's tour of India, is published next week. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
