Sinclair does it again in Yorkshire League Lynn McConnell - 9 May 2001
A third Mathew Sinclair century in three days wasn't enough to help Cleethorpes to a win over Barnsley in the Yorkshire League yesterday. Barnsley held on for a draw with their last pair at the wicket. The game was played at Chichester Road and Cleethorpes batting first scored 237/5 with Sinclair setting a club record with his third century. Backing him up were James Stevenson 47 not out and Mike Smith who scored 29. Barnsley's effort in the field was rewarded with keeping the score below 250 but they were soon in trouble at 85/7 with George Thompson taking four wickets. Barnsley was well led by tail-ender Rob Ledger who had to battle the whole way during his innings to end up on 70 as the side ended on 170/9. That effort denied Cleethorpes maximum points from the game and they had to settle for six of eight points. Their next game will be a more realistic test as they meet last season's champion Sheffield Collegiate, who also won the national knockout competition. © CricInfo
