Condon to investigate Sri Lankan pair CricInfo - 27 March 2001
Sir Paul Condon of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit will arrive in Sri Lanka at the end of this week to investigate claims of match-fixing.
The allegations were made by the infamous Indian bookmaker, MK Gupta, to Indian police at the end of last year and concern former captain, Arjuna Ranatunga and leading batsman, Aravinda de Silva. They are alleged to have ensured that India beat Sri Lanka in a Test in 1994. Ranatunga and de Silva both deny the charges, though de Silva admits he was approached by bookmakers.
