Moin Khan in doubt for third Test tomorrow Lynn McConnell - 26 March 2001
Pakistan captain Moin Khan is shaping as a doubtful starter for the final National Bank series Test with New Zealand starting in Hamilton tomorrow. Moin has not trained with the team in its pre-Test preparation since arriving in Hamilton. He announced after the second Test in Christchurch that he would not be playing in the three-day game with Wellington in order to rest his knee. Pakistan coach Javed Miandad said today, "Moin is struggling. He is resting it at the moment. "At the moment it doesn't look good. He had an injection in Wellington and was told to have three or four days rest." While he was fine in walking, it is when crouching and bending that he has problems. It is an injury he has suffered before. A final decision will be made tomorrow on whether he will play. Should he not play Humayun Farhat would come into the side, a situation helped by his good batting during the Wellington game when he scored 74 off 61 balls with some attacking strokeplay during the second innings. Inzamam-ul-Haq would take over as captain of the side. © CricInfo
