Tillekeratne Dilshan
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 28, 2001
Wisden overview Dilshan burst onto the international scene in the rebuilding that followed the 1999 World Cup by scoring an assured, unbeaten 163, spanning eight hours, in Harare in his second Test. It generated excited reviews, but he failed to live up to them, not reaching fifty again in his next nine Tests. He is yet to make an impact in one-day cricket. Dilshan lacks temperament rather than technique, as an incident in Harare illustrated: when Murray Goodwin walked down the wicket to do some "gardening" before the umpire had called "over", Dilshan ran him out. In Pakistan four months later, he was involved in further excess against a local umpire. Formerly known by the first names Tuwan Mohamed, he renamed himself Tillekeratne Mudiyansilage in 1998. He is also an occasional wicketkeeper. Simon Wilde
