Asif Mujtaba
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 27, 2001
Wisden overview Asif Mujtaba was Pakistan's answer to the numerous English batsmen who fill their boots in county cricket but never quite make it at Test level. It looked otherwise when Mujtaba announced himself with a brilliant left-handed innings that defeated Australia in the one-day Perth Challenge of 1986-87. But his Test career never took off, as a cause and consequence of which he never had a prolonged run in the side. So he kept averaging 50 in domestic cricket, captaining Karachi teams, and bowling useful left-arm spin in the ranks of the might-have-beens. Scyld Berry
