Scott Styris
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 27, 2001

Wisden overview
Scott Styris does not really look like the specialist one-day player he has become. He is shortish of build, pale of face, and not especially athletic in movement. But there is something of the bulldog determination in Styris's medium-fast bowling, his dogged and sometimes dashing batting, and his undying energy in the outfield. Among a bunch of bowlers learning the one-day arts, Styris is the most proficient. He can swing the ball, hit the seam and has the ability to disguise his pace - or lack of it. Styris may not dominate centre-stage very often, but he is rather more than a bit-player. When he finally got his chance in the Test side he responded by hitting a century from his No. 8 spot, only the seventh new Zealander to hit a hundred on debut. Don Cameron
