Nixon McLean
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 22, 2001
Wisden overview McLean is the former tearaway who became a nagging seamer. Easily the fastest bowler on debut against England in 1997-98, but his confidence suffered badly during West Indies' 5-0 mauling in South Africa. Now, averaging around 83mph, McLean struggles to do enough with the ball, and his best bowling in his first 19 Tests was a measly 3 for 53. McLean is short for a Caribbean pacer, only just over 6ft tall, but strong and sinewy. He is also an erratic but occasionally spectacular left-handed biffer; in one 12-ball innings at Port Elizabeth, he hit sixes off Donald, Pollock, and David Terbrugge (twice). Simon Briggs
