Martin McCague
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 20, 2001

Wisden overview
Bowlers don't get any bulkier than McCague, who rumbles up to the crease like a runaway tank and generates real pace with a stiff - but powerful - action. Born in Ulster, McCague began his first-class career with Western Australia in 1990-91, but appeared for Kent the following summer, and muscled his way into the England team halfway through the 1993 Ashes series. Two nervy performances later he was back in county cricket, but he regained his Test place through sheer weight of wickets for Kent and took the new ball in the Ashes opener at Brisbane in 1994-95. The nerves returned, though, and McCague never played for England again. He remains injury prone, but can still run through batting line-ups, and loves to bash the ball over the top. Lawrence Booth
