Injury forces Jeremy out again
Derrick Nicholas - 30 June 2001

As was the case in Australia late last year, an injury to Antiguan fast bowler Kerry Jeremy has forced him to withdraw from taking any further part in the West Indies' current tour of Zimbabwe.

According to West Indies team manager, Ricky Skerritt, the 21-year-old seamer has suffered "a serious back strain" and will therefore return to the Caribbean on Monday where he will recuperate. Jeremy, who was not originally included in the Test squad nor the team to tour Kenya is scheduled to return to the Caribbean next week.

Jeremy played in two tour matches against the CFX Academy and Zimbabwe 'A', but was not selected for any of the One-Day Internationals.

Meanwhile, Guyanese pace man, Colin Stuart will replace Jeremy for the Test series which follow the current triangular one-day series involving India, West Indies and host Zimbabwe.

While on his first overseas tour with the West Indies team in November last year, Jeremy was injured during the first tour match when he was struck in the jaw. Jeremy sustained the injury playing against Western Australia. The injury kept him out of action for three weeks. He was subsequently replaced for the Carlton Series of One-Day Internationals.
