Australia are favourites to win at Ladbrokes Matt Finnigan, Ladbrokes - 22 June 2001
Saturday's NatWest Series Final between Australia and Pakistan shows all the signs of being a one-day masterclass. Both sides have shown their brilliance throughout this series and both will have a point to prove in Saturday's final. Australia have bounced back from their defeat at the hands of Pakistan at Trent Bridge on Tuesday with a ruthless display over England. But with Waqar on such explosive form with the ball he could have a major part to play in this final. Ladbrokes make Australia strong favourites to win Saturday's final. However Pakistan are in a rich vein of form, so this one will be a close game to call. If Pakistan are to defeat the world champions, they will need the likes of Inzamam and Saeed Anwar to get among the runs and Waqar to continue his great form. Inzamam is 4/1 and Saeed Anwar is 7/2 to be Pakistan's top batsman in the final. Australia are firm favourites to win because of their strength in depth. You just know that if Ricky Ponting doesn't get runs, then Mark Waugh and Michael Bevan will. Australia must be praised for the way they have adopted Test Match field placements, a tactic that has reaped rewards during this series. Ricky Ponting is 4/1, Mark Waugh is 7/2 and Michael Bevan is 5/1 to be Australia's top batsman in the final Enjoy the final. © Ladbrokes |
