A journeyman wicketkeeper, Vijay Dahiya was one of many tried out when the Indian cricket establishment tired of Nayan Mongia. A spirited batsman down the order, Dahiya looked good in his first two Tests, against Zimbabwe, and in the first few one-dayers that he played, but his limitations behind the stumps were exposed in the one-day series against Australia early in 2001 -- and it was back to domestic cricket for him.
