Tendulkar century sinks West Indies Wisden CricInfo staff - July 6, 2001
Sachin Tendulkar blasted his way to his 29th one-day century to guide India to a comprehensive six-wicket win over the West Indies in Harare. Chasing the West Indies total of 229-5, India reached the target with 11 balls to spare on the back of Tendulkar's brilliant 122. The result was immaterial because the two teams had already guaranteed their places in the final of the triangular limited overs tournament which also featured Zimbabwe. Tendulkar was never troubled as he struck a six and 12 fours. He has now scored 282 runs in the tournament and been dismissed just once. Earlier, half centuries from Wavell Hinds (66) and Daren Ganga (55) helped West Indies post a reasonable total after losing the toss. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
