Neil McGarrell
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 6, 2001
Wisden overview One of several ambidextrous West Indian players, Neil McGarrell is a tidy slow left-armer, but he needs to develop more subtle variations, as he depends too much on creating pressure to get wickets and is not a big spinner. But his batting - based on a very simple method - is capable, and he is a superb fielder, as he showed on his one-day debut, against England at Port-of-Spain in 1997-98. A man of few words, he is so unflappable and phlegmatic that he has earned the ironic nickname "The Beast". He prefers to be out of the limelight and is an avid golf fan, if not as good a player.Vaneisa Baksh
