India v Zimbabwe 1999-2000 Wisden CricInfo staff - July 6, 2001
At Kallang Ground, Singapore, September 4. India won by 115 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. Overnight rain reduced this match to 30 overs a side, but India set a target Zimbabwe would have found awkward in 50. Tendulkar reached his half-century off 50 balls, yet was outpaced by Jadeja, who took 39. Together they piled on 143 for the third wicket in 17 overs. A calf-muscle injury eventually forced Jadeja to retire after facing just 61 balls for his 88. All Zimbabwe's bowlers came in for punishment, notably Grant Flower, whose single over went for 20, including three sixes. A slow over-rate – perhaps understandable given the ball-chasing – cost Zimbabwe an over from their reply, but from 19 for four that was academic. Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
