Roger Binny
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 5, 2001
Wisden overview In helpful conditions, Roger Binny was a wonderful exponent of controlled swing bowling. He had a smooth, rhythmic action and could move the ball both ways at a lively medium-pace. He was an integral part of probably India's finest one-day side, and reserved his best for English conditions. He was the leading wicket-taker when India won the World Cup in 1983, and played a pivotal role in India's 2-0 series victory in England in 1986, with a matchwinning bowling performance at Headingley. He was an effective lower-order batsman as well, and even opened the batting occasionally in one-dayers. After his retirement, he has made a successful transition to coaching, and was in charge of the Indian Under-19 team that won the 2000 Youth World Cup. Dileep Premachandran
