New Zealand v Australia 1999-2000 Wisden CricInfo staff - July 5, 2001
At Auckland, March 3 (day/night). New Zealand won by seven wickets. Toss: Australia. With the series won 4–0, the Australians were more relaxed. Only Martyn, batting throughout the innings for 116, with 13 fours and a six, his first hundred for Australia, seemed intent on extending their unbeaten streak. The rest of the batting was untidy, and Nevin, New Zealand's sprightly wicket-keeper, upstaged everyone with a sparkling 74 from 94 balls after being promoted to open in his second international. His century partnership with Fleming left the captain with the reasonably easy target of another 26 to get New Zealand home, which he achieved with nine overs to spare. Man of the Match: C. J. Nevin. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
