Pakistan v Sri Lanka 1999-2000
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 5, 2001

At Gujranwala, February 16. Sri Lanka won by 34 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Jayasuriya produced an inspirational performance in his 200th one-day international to give Sri Lanka the three-match series with a game to play. He hit a polished 65 off 78 balls, with nine fours, and capped it with two wickets as the game was won with 23 balls to spare. The Pakistanis had been docked an over for their slow bowling-rate. Their misfortunes began when Shoaib Akhtar limped off with a groin injury after bowling five overs, and neither a sedate 68 by Yousuf Youhana nor Wasim Akram's four sixes in his 29-ball 34 provided much consolation.

Man of the Match: S. T. Jayasuriya.
