Pakistan v Sri Lanka 1999-2000
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 5, 2001

At Karachi, February 13. Sri Lanka won by 29 runs. Toss: Pakistan. International debuts: Imran Abbas, Yasir Arafat, Younis Khan.

Atapattu's third century in 90 one-day internationals, after he had added 111 for the second wicket with Jayasuriya, propelled Sri Lanka to an imposing total after being sent in. His elegant, unbeaten 119 in 135 balls contained seven boundaries. Pakistan made a positive start, Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail putting on 71 in the first 15 overs, but Muralitharan's control backed by alert fielding had them struggling at 166 for six by the 37th. A flurry from debutant Younis Khan and Abdur Razzaq, putting on 61 in eight overs, saved some blushes but never threatened to snatch victory. This match was former Test batsman Sadiq Mohammad's debut as an international umpire.

Man of the Match: M. S. Atapattu.
