†INDIA v NEW ZEALAND 1999-2000 Wisden CricInfo staff - July 3, 2001
At Gauhati, November 14. New Zealand won by 48 runs. Toss: India. International debut: T. Kumaran. New Zealand squared the series, despite losing their top three cheaply after being asked to bat. Twose and Cairns fought back against an inexperienced attack, India having rested three key bowlers ahead of the Australian tour, and Cairns hit three sixes as he steered New Zealand past 200. India also made a poor start: within seven overs they had lost the three century-makers in the earlier games. Joshi, coming in at 88 for six, was the only home batsman to reach 30 and was unbeaten on 61 when Styris wrapped up the innings in the 46th over. Man of the Match: C. L. Cairns. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
