Special bets for Third Test Matt Finnigan, Ladbrokes - 30 July 2001
It looks almost certain that the Ashes will remain with Australia once again – England are 11-1 outsiders to win this Test and to retain an outside chance of regaining the Ashes. But with three tests still go there are plenty of special bets for punters to get their teeth into. Despite losing the toss in the two Tests so far, the law of averages says that England must win one soon. Normally bookmakers would price up the tossing of a coin at 5/6 the pair, so with even money on offer it looks a fair bet. However, you may fancy England to lose the toss in the next three tests, Ladbrokes are offering 7/1 for that to happen. Individual match bets are proving popular and I quite like the look of the 5/4 available on Andy Caddick to take the most wickets in the match against Brett Lee. If you fancy the wicket-keepers to get amongst the dismissals, Alec Stewart is 5/1 with counterpart Adam Gilchrist priced at 7/2 to take five catches in an innings. A new addition to Ladbrokes' specials is how many Australian second innings wickets will fall. Ten wickets to fall is the 6/4 favourite, however you can get 10/1 on either four or five wickets falling. With Trent Bridge traditionally one of the more batsman-friendly grounds, you might fancy a punt on Australia to score in excess of 600 in their first innings. Even the tail might get in on the act, and Ladbrokes offers a price of 6-1 against either side having a tenth wicket partnership of 50. With other special bets on players taking five wickets in an innings, ten wickets in the match, or scoring centuries, visit Ladbrokes for the most exciting cricket bets available.
