Hampshire launch state-of-the-art Indoor cricket school. Vic Isaacs - 12 July 2001
Hampshire County Cricket Club launched their state-of-the-art indoor cricket school at the Rose Bowl on Monday the 2nd of July. The launch included cricketers from local cricket clubs, several county age group squad members and numerous women and girls players. The players demonstrated the resourcefulness of the Indoor Academy by having a series of Net Practices whilst a fielding practice was going on in the other half of the Hall. The different types of Underlay beneath the top surface provide different paces and spin levels. This will help Hampshire Cricketers develop as Players who can adapt to all types of surface and situation. The size and design of the ball also gives the coach wonderful Video Analysis opportunities with six cameras posted at strategic positions around the hall. Video analysis is the most effective technical coaching tool, and one which shall benefit Hampshire Players and Coaches alike. Media presence from Meridian TV, Radio Solent, The Daily Echo, The Portsmouth News, and the National Newspapers provided the publicity for the new development. The indoor school will hold numerous coaching and training opportunities over the coming months. ECB level 1 and 2 coaching courses and coaching modules are to be held during the October to April period. The ECB are also intending to announce that Hampshire's indoor facility will be this year's venue for the South Region Level 3 Coaching Course. The Indoor Academy is linked with the superb Health Suite and Squash Courts at the Rose Bowl. Again this will ensure that Hampshire Cricketer's will be physically as well as technically prepared for life in the "Cricket Fast-Lane". From a playing point of view, it is hoped that the Indoor School will host a number of indoor cricket leagues, local cricket club junior and senior practices. This in addition to supporting Hampshire County Cricket Club 1st and 2nd elevens, the Hampshire county age group squads, women and girls cricket, Hampshire Cricket Board Disability Teams and Local Primary and Secondary Schools. Come down to the Rose Bowl and take a look! © Hampshire CCC
