Ever dreamt of meeting Angus Fraser at Lord's? Not standing 22 yards away with a bat in your hands with Gus steaming in from the Nursery End, you understand. More of a nightmare than a dream.

No. This is an opportunity to spend the day with the Middlesex captain at his home ground. You'll see the dressing rooms, meet the players and gets tickets to a Middlesex game.

Well, you can make that dream come true by logging on to the Imperial Cancer Research Fund's sports auction with website auctioneers Aucland UK.

Sports fans can bid over the internet for all kinds of sporting goodies including a cricket bat signed by the County Championship-winning Surrey CCC squad, an India One-Day International shirt signed by captain Sourav Ganguly, and a mini cricket bat signed by the Kent players.

The Imperial Cancer Research Fund has teamed up with bookmakers Ladbrokes to pull together the array of sporting items which it is hoped will raise thousands of pounds for the charity's vital cancer research.

Bids can be placed over a two-week period from 6 February when the auction goes live on the web at www.aucland.co.uk.

Alison Smith, of Imperial Cancer Research Fund, said: "Sports personalities have been keen to support us and we are delighted with the items they have been kind enough to donate. Lots more memorabilia has been pledged and we hope people will log on with generous bids in February."

The auction is one of the events marking the launch of Imperial Cancer's new Dads & Lads Campaign on 6 February to raise awareness of cancers that affect men. The campaign aims to encourage men and their families to become more aware of the symptoms and risk factors of men's cancers, including testicular and prostate cancer. With its sporting theme, the auction will help to highlight the issues around men and cancer.
