Auckland out to break Northern's recent dominance Don Cameron - 1 January 2001
Auckland will attempt to break a Northern Districts hoodoo when they play their four-day Shell Trophy match, starting on the Eden Park Outer Oval tomorrow. Auckland have not beaten ND on the outer ground since the 1995-96 season and, in fact, have not beaten ND anywhere since the 1996-97 season. Curiously Blair Pocock is one of the survivors of the 1995-96 game, but that time he played for ND and today will captain Auckland. Mark Haslam is the only Auckland survivor since the last win on the Outer Oval, while ND will still have Robbie Hart, Matthew Hart, Mark Bailey and Grant Bradburn in their side today. Teams: Northern Districts: Robbie Hart (captain), Joseph Yovich, Simon Doull, Mark Bailey, Hamish Marshall, James Marshall, Neal Parlane, Grant Bradburn, Daryl Tuffey, Bruce Martin, Graeme Aldridge, Matthew Hart. Auckland: Blair Pocock, Tim McIntosh, John Aiken, Richard King, Dion Nash, Lou Vincent, Tama Canning, Kyle Mills, Andre Adams, Chris Drum, Richard Morgan, Mark Haslam. © CricInfo
