Edwards posts century against Canterbury Lynn McConnell - 4 February 2001
England and Northern Districts opening batsman Charlotte Edwards took advantage of the superb conditions at Christchurch's Hagley Oval today to score 119 not out against Canterbury in their State Insurance Cup game.
Her century, the second of the series, allowed ND to finish their 50 overs on 234/8. Edwards scored her century off 112 balls and hit 13 fours and by the end of the innings had faced 125 balls and hit 15 fours. Skye Sandilands was the next best scorer with 21. For Canterbury Haidee Tiffen took three for 34 from her 10 overs and benefited from the wicket-keeping skills of Jo Strahan who completed four stumpings standing up to the medium pace of both Tiffen and Nicola Payne who finished with 3/37 from her 10 overs. One of the stumpings was completed from Payne's bowling. Wellington won the toss and batted against Auckland in Auckland. However, it fared little better than yesterday and was all out after 48.3 overs for 155. Fiona Stickney topped the scoring with 30 while Maia Lewis scored 23. CLEAR White Fern Helen Watson continued the good form she has had for Auckland by taking three for 20 from her 10 overs while Nathalie Scripps took two for 33 from 9.3 overs. © CricInfo
