New Zealand (341 for 6 dec) beat Bangladesh 132 and 135 (Bond 4-54) by an innings and 74 runs
scorecard

There was no change to the script at Wellington today. Bangladesh, 67 for 5 overnight, capitulated for 135 in just over an hour, as New Zealand wrapped up the match and the series 2-0.

Shane Bond picked up where he left off last night, bowling Sanwar Hossain for 7 to take his innings tally to four (79 for 7). But try as he might, Bond couldn't manage a coveted first five-wicket haul in Tests.

Earlier Craig McMillan had run out Khaled Mahmud (75 for 6), and then the rhyming-couplet combination of Parore and Vettori accounted for Hasibul Hossain, caught behind for 7 (86 for 8).

It looked like being all over very quickly indeed. But Khaled Mashud, the captain and Mashrafee bin Murtoza showed some staunch resistance at last, putting on 49 together in just seven overs.

But that was as much fight as Bangladesh could muster. Chris Cairns, previously wicketless in this innings, chipped in with the last two in successive balls to take his career tally to 194 in Tests.

First Mashrafee was bowled (135 for 9). His 29 included four fours and an extraordinary scooped six over long-off from the bowling of the surprised Bond. With Cairns's next ball Manjural Islam was caught by Mathew Sinclair at second slip to round off the rout.

For the second time in the match Khaled Mashud remained undefeated. With three catches when New Zealand batted Bangladesh's captain can take a scrap of comfort from this match. But he can't be happy with two more crushing innings defeats. Bangladesh's overall Test record now stands at eight losses and one rain-ruined draw from nine starts. It's hard to see what good this is doing Bangladesh's players - or Test cricket.
