Vincent to bat at No 3 for Auckland Lynn McConnell - 9 December 2001
New Zealand Cricket's man of the moment Lou Vincent has been named to bat at No 3 for Auckland in their game against Bangladesh starting Wednesday on the Eden Park Outer Oval. The team named this afternoon by Auckland coach and selection convener Tony Sail for the National Bank tour match, is also bolstered by the return of opener Mark Richardson who will make his first appearance for Auckland this season, and Chris Drum who took five for 34 in the CLEAR Black Caps win over the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra last week. "Whilst we are fully supportive of Lou's goal to establish himself as an international class opener, we are also supportive of Matt Horne in his efforts to catch the eye of the national selectors," Sail said. Drum, Richardson and Vincent replace Tim McIntosh, Richard Morgan and Rob Nicol from the team that drew Auckland's rain-affected game against Wellington at the Basin Reserve last week. Although making steady progress in his injury rehabilitation, Dion Nash was not considered fit enough to play a full role in the game. Adam Parore is also rested after the demanding tour of Australia. The Auckland team to play Bangladesh is: Brooke Walker (captain), Andre Adams, Aaron Barnes, Tama Canning, Chris Drum, Mark Haslam, Matt Horne, Nick Horsley, Kyle Mills, Mark Richardson, Lou Vincent, Reece Young. © CricInfo
