Bangladesh opted for experience when they named their team to face defending champions Pakistan in the first match of the 2001 Asian Test Championship starting on Wednesday.

Three youngsters in the 14-man touring squad - Mohammad Al-Sahariar, Mohammad Ashraful and Bikash Ranjan Das - were all left out of the playing eleven, which is the same one that played a warm-up match in Karachi last week. Pakistan will name their team on Wednesday.

Bangladesh: Naimur Rahman (captain), Khaled Mashud, Javed Omar, Mehrab Hossain, Habibul Bashar, Aminul Islam, Akram Khan, Enamul Haque, Hasibul Hussain, Manjural Islam, Mohammed Sharif.
