India's decision to pull out of the Asian Test Championship will make the tournament less interesting, the chief executive of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) has said.

"It is somewhat disappointing because India would have been a good side to play against," Anura Tennekoon told Reuters. The former Sri Lankan skipper said tournament organisers had said the championship would go ahead in Pakistan next week despite India's decision to not play.

The Indian government, whose relations with their neighbours Pakistan have been strained because of the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, made the decision not to send a team on Tuesday.

Tennekoon did not say if India's withdrawal meant the future of the tournament - only in its second year - was in danger. "I hope for the sake of the game it will get resolved," he said.

With India's withdrawal, the championship now will be played between Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
