England's place in history
Wisden CricInfo staff - August 20, 2001
England's 315 for 4 is the second-highest total they have ever made to win a Test, after their 332 for 7 at Melbourne in 1928-29, and their highest at home. It's also the second-highest fourth-innings total made to win a Test at Headingley, after Australia's 404 for 3 in 1948. And it's only the eighth time that any side has won a Test match following a declaration by the other team.
