Sarwan century puts West Indies in control

NAIROBI (Reuters) An unbeaten century by Ramnaresh Sarwan put the West Indies in a commanding position at the end of the second day of their three-day tour match against Kenya. West Indies scored 321 for the loss of only three wickets in response to Kenya's 233 all out.
Sarwan scored 100 off 164 balls, including 12 boundaries, recording an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 114 with acting captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Kenyan hopes flickered briefly when opener Darren Ganga was caught behind in the second over off Martin Suji without scoring. But Leon Garrick (71) and Wavell Hinds (83) soon steadied the ship, putting on 121 for the second wicket.
Chanderpaul took over as captain after Carl Hooper withdrew from the team, complaining of influenza. West Indies manager Ricky Skerritt said Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle were also unwell in the touring party. "It was a flu we picked in Zimbabwe but which is taking its toll on the team," he said. "We're happy with the scores and we'll go for more quick runs tomorrow and see if we'll declare."
Kenyan captain Maurice Odumbe said his side would be happy to share the honours with the West Indies. "That will be as good as a win for us. We'll be happy with that," he said.
