Warne praises Gillespie's contribution

Shane Warne paid tribute to the part played by his bowling partner Jason Gillespie after he snapped up five for 25 against England in the third Ashes Test.

"I thought Jason bowled absolutely sensationally. That created pressure and forced a few bad strokes and made it my day from good partnership bowling," Warne said.

The leg-spinner, who is Australia's all-time leading wicket-taker, claimed five victims in a Test innings for the 18th time -- and the sixth against England -- in his 90th Test.

"I've been happy all tour with the way I've been bowling. With our three quicks (Glenn McGrath, Gillespie and Brett Lee) my role in the side has changed but once they have had a go it's my turn and today was my day," Warne said.

Warne's spell left England 139 ahead with four wickets left, but he believes the match is still in the balance. "Wth the Ashes up for grabs anything's a good score and if England can get a lead of 200 it could be a real close finish as we only got 190 in the first innings.

"This type of wicket is very hard for a batsman when he first comes in until he starts to occupy the crease and gets a bit of form. That's why Mark Ramprakash was a big wicket, he was set on 26 and to get him was a big turning-point.

"When you occupy the crease for a while it's a pretty good wicket to bat on but at that initial stage when you first go in there is a bit of variable bounce and it's still doing a little when you pitch the ball up."
