Wisden overview A solid if unspectacular left-arm spinner, "Moni" made a traumatic ODI debut as long ago as 1989, when his ten overs were carted for 72 runs by Andrew Jones and John Wright of New Zealand. Since then he has sought to bore his victims out, by concentrating on a tight line and length, though his one-day economy rate would beg to differ. A competent lower-order loiterer, he played an important role in Bangladesh's narrow victory over Scotland in the 1999 World Cup. Andrew Miller
