Ganguly in hot water again
Wisden CricInfo staff - August 2, 2001

India's captain Sourav Ganguly has been fined 75% of his match fee after being charged with bringing the game into disrepute during Wednesday's Coca-Cola Cup match against Sri Lanka.

Ganguly, who was playing in his first game after serving a suspension for the same offence earlier in the tournament, was cited by referee Cammie Smith for using foul and abusive language towards Sri Lankan batsman Russel Arnold.

Ganguly appeared to lose his temper when Arnold was given not out following an appeal for a catch at the wicket, and when the batsman was subsequently dismissed Ganguly directed a volley of invective at him.

Smith interviewed players immediately after the match, which India won by 46 runs, and made his decision public early on Thursday.
