Ladbrokes betting preview: Fourth npower Test
Matt Finnigan, Ladbrokes - 14 August 2001

With the Ashes lost, England will be looking to salvage some pride from the Headingley Test, which starts on Thursday.

Betting is still open on the series result. England supporters can get 33/1 on the final series result being 3-2, which is asking a lot of this England side. However, the 7/1 price on a 4-1 defeat, which assumes one further defeat and one consolation win from the remaining Tests, may be a more likely result.

England are priced at 5-1 to win the Fourth Test, with the all-conquering Australians 4-11. Also at 5-1 is betting on the match to end before Sunday. Given the early finishes so far in the series, and the bowler-friendly reputation of Headingley, this price might attract a good number of bets.

No England player has yet registered a century against the formidable Australian attack, and perhaps one of the openers is most likely to perform this feat. Atherton and Trescothick are both priced at 8-1. Any England player to score a century is the special Centurion bet, priced currently at 5/4.

In-form stand-in Australian captain Adam Gilchrist is perhaps more generously priced at 7-1 to score a hundred in this Test, while following his rush of blood in the Fourth Test, cynical punters may be attracted by the odds of 25/1 on Mark Ramprakash being out stumped.

This is just a small selection of the special bets available on the Fourth npower Test at Headingley. Click on the logo below to open an account with Ladbrokes and place your bet.
