Hefford and Graham named CD players of the year Lynn McConnell - 27 April 2001
Brent Hefford's outstanding first season of Shell Trophy cricket has been rewarded with his selection as Central Districts' men's player of the year. Megan Graham has been awarded the women's title. The selections were announced by Central Districts Cricket on Anzac Day. Hefford, finished at the top of the bowling averages with the greatest number of wickets in the Shell Trophy for CD. In five matches he took 24 wickets at an average of 18.25 while he was also the most consistent of the side's bowlers in its Shell Cup-winning season. His 11 wickets in six matches were taken at a cost of 12.63 runs while his economy rate was an impressive 2.83 runs per over. In nine matches for the State Insurance CD women's team Graham scored 152 runs at 21.71 and took 10 wickets at 15.10 with a best of four for 32. Graham, who has captained the Central Districts side for the last two seasons, is now second on the all-time list for appearances for CD. She has 75, four less than record holder Elizabeth Signal. Graham is seventh on the CD all-time list of run scorers with 842 runs while her 96 wickets are second on the bowling list behind the 202 taken by Signal. © CricInfo
