Klusener, Pollock plunder Province attack
Peter J Heeger - 1 October 2000

A 96 run partnership in 53 minutes between Lance Klusener and Shaun Pollock gave the Dolphins a dramatic five wicket victory over WP in the Supersport Knockout Challenge at Kingsmead on Sunday.

Both Klusener 52 not out (4x4, 2x6) and Pollock 44 not out (5x4, 2x6) laid into the Province attack at will. This after Province thanks to some fine tight bowling restricted the Dolphins batsmen with only Ahmed Amla (33) able to score freely. Only Roger Telamachus was able to stem the Klusener/Pollock onslaught. He finished with 2/27 off his five overs.

Earlier Dolphins captain Dale Benkenstein won the toss and sent WP into bat. Province 178/4 after 25 overs with HD Ackerman 53 not out and Lloyd Ferreira 34 not out leading the batting charge. Jacques Kallis weighed in with 34 but generally the top order failed to take advantage of a good Kingsmead wicket.

The Dolphins play the Titans in the final.
