Teams assemble in Sharjah for ACC Trophy
Tony Munro - 13 November 2000

Seven of the eight teams contesting the Pepsi Asian Cricket Council Trophy have so far arrived in Sharjah in a tournament which brings together the best countries of the second tier of Asian cricket.

Only Japan, arriving tomorrow night Sharjah time, is yet to arrive, while Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuwait flew in on Saturday.

Malaysia touched down yesterday while the Maldivian and Nepali squads reached Sharjah today.

Singapore's early arrival is aimed at giving the squad the chance to become fully acquainted, with its oversees contingent joining the Singaporean residents for the first time.

Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and ACC Trophy debutantes, Kuwait, are in Group A, while hosts, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Japan, and the Maldives contest Group B.

The finalists of the tournament join India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in next year's Asia Cup in Pakistan.

CricInfo will provide full reports and scorecards of all matches of the ACC Trophy.
