Time for reflection and contemplation Katrina Keenan - 22 December 2000
Friday 22nd December We have almost come to the end of the CricInfo Women's World Cup – and what does a side like the Clear White Ferns do the day before the final – simply……..the same as we have always done. Yes the thrill of playing in a final of a World Cup event will be pretty exciting and whilst many of the players have experienced this at previous World Cups for some it will be their first taste. But important as it is to absorb and enjoy the occasion it is equally important to just go about the business of playing the game as we would on any given day and as we have done throughout the tournament. Today was no different. We trained with good intensity in the morning and we spent the afternoon relaxing and getting organised for the game tomorrow. We had a team meeting before dinner and then headed across to the dining hall for what will be our last meal at Lincoln University – and very nice it was, roast chicken, a selection of pasta, vegetables and salads. Tonight I am sure that we will all reflect a little on the game ahead of us but the feeling is one of excitement and keen anticipation. There is a relaxed confidence about the Clear White Ferns knowing we have prepared to the absolute best of our ability and are playing fantastic cricket. © CricInfo
